Innovative Healthcare Today, Training the Physicians of Tomorrow
Message from the Program Director
Greetings from Asma Jafri, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., M.A.C.M.
Welcome to the University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency.
Our program accepted its first class of residents in July 2015. We are affiliated with Dignity Health St. Bernardine Medical Center, which was founded in San Bernardino and has grown into a 342-bed not-for-profit health care facility with the latest technology and offers a full continuum of services. With tremendous community support, we are able to provide an abundance of educational opportunities to equip residents with the skills to attain both their educational and professional goals.
We have outstanding faculty and a new state-of-the-art family medicine clinic designed to provide compassionate care in a supportive, patient-centered medical home setting.
As our health care system continues to evolve, there is no question that family medicine will remain pivotal in addressing not only the healthcare needs of the region but for our nation. Therefore, with the commencement of the residency, we hope to improve access and strengthen primary care in the Inlande Empire while providing personalized care of the highest quality to the community that is patient, family, and community-centered.
The UCR School of Medicine is proud to be the sixth medical school in the University of California system and the first to open since the late 1960s. Enrolling its inaugural class in August 2013, the medical school is well on its way to addressing the critical shortage of physicians in Inland Southern California.
Thank you for your interest and we would be delighted to provide you with more information and answer any questions.
